My Passion Fruit Journey
Growing up in the U.S. my idea of flavor was shaped entirely by what I could find at the grocery store. Then I spent a few years living in Taiwan and everything changed. You haven’t lived until you have tasted quality, organic fruit that was allowed to fully ripen on the plant and then picked just the day before you ate it.
After returning to the States, I spent an incredible amount of time and energy looking for the same quality, but I just couldn’t find it. Nothing here tasted quite as good, or as fresh. It was maddening! After failing to find in the U.S. what I had experienced abroad I decided: If I can’t find it, I’ll be the one to make it myself.
After years of research, including trips to farms in Taiwan, I decided it was time to put theory into practice. Purchasing an old orchard in southern Florida, I transformed the land into a passion fruit paradise. Working with contacts in Taiwan, I was able to import the most popular varieties and offer them to customers here.
Applying the farming techniques I learned in Puli, Taiwan to both Taiwanese varieties and domestic ones, it’s my aim to bring about organic, full flavor passion fruit to America.
